There is nothing less certain on this earth than Arabic time keeping. Forget your schedules, convoy movements, and delivery times – all of it. If you have to get anything done using Arab time, you had better make sure you add enough time for the will of God to screw with your plans, Arab style.
But that is not all encompassed in the definition. It means that everything will happen if it is supposed to. If Allah, in his master plan, considers it worthy then by all certainty it will happen, but only in his good time. I wish suicide bombers were that lax.
Add those two things together and it is a wonder that anything gets done in the Arab world. And yet, they have the unmitigated audacity to complain that the United States has done nothing to deal with ISIS and other terror groups as if it is our sole responsibility.
I have news for the Arab world, Insha’Allah. It will happen, in good time and god willing.
Saudi King Abdullah warns that ISIS is bad. You know, I am impressed. The Saudi king is actually afraid enough to say something in public. But I am seriously not amused since this is mostly the Saudi’s fault and he is turning to us instead of cutting off the flow of money to them.
The majority of the Al Qaeda leadership came from Saudi Arabia along with the vast fortunes they used in the beginning and to sustain their operations.
ISIS is from a different sect and it poses a direct threat to the Kingdom of Saud but they still have those Al Qaeda roots. Well brother, hire some mercenaries with all your money. If you pay well enough you might even manage to get some quality people with former service in the U.S. military and so long as you keep your ideals and fingers out of the operations, they could clean out ISIS in short order. Hell, if you give me enough I will go back so long as the money is up front and there are no rules of engagement that get in the way.
That would betray Islam. They cannot hire the infidel to come save the Holy Land because they might get ideas. And I have no intention of subscribing to Islam in any way, shape or form. So I guess the deal is null and void. But you could hire it out through a third party, like you paid for the election of the current President.
Bitching that the U.S. does not have a plan, wow, that took some stones. Where is your plan, what do you intend to do about it? How about you stop pouring money into various other terror organizations? How about you put a thumb on Iran and get them to mind their own damn business? How about you pay the U.S. for what we spent saving your asses three different times?
Yes, three. First, the U.S. provided the initial capital to produce the oil from the Saudi oil fields, which is why they are called the Saudi oil fields instead of the Rashidi fields. They got rich and our oil companies got rich. Second, we supported Saddam against the Shah in Iran. Third, we saved their asses during Desert Storm when Saddam slipped his leash.
Understand something about world politics, dear reader. In the 1940’s, when we bought our way into Saudi oil, there was nothing but Bedouin tribes to deal with. The region had been under the control of the Ottomans for 400 years and after WWI there were various protectorates and nations created whole from the British and League of Nations mandates.
We dealt with the strongest tribes available and we supported those who felt kindly towards us. Yes, it was a backdoor bribe-extortion situation. Grow the fuck up. That is how things work. We found the one tribe in the area with a reasonable amount of power and we backed them against their rivals.
So here we are, that tribe is now the richest kingdom on the planet and quite literally capable of paying its troubles away. Osama of unfortunate fame was paid to stay out of the Kingdom and to keep his nefarious actions away from them. Worked out well, don’t you think?
I don’t mind that the Kingdom of Saud wants to call for help, but they have managed to not help us on many occasions to the point that we don’t have a warm relationship anymore. And it takes a truckload of nerve to get all upset that the latest terror group is worrying them and the good old U.S. has not done anything yet.
For instance, if you were to ask who is the largest financial supporter of terrorist groups around the world what answer do you think you’d get? They may not be doing it because they care what they are doing so much as where they are doing it, but the dead are still dead.
Politics makes for a strange bedfellow and that is for sure. We have an ally of sorts who supports our enemies and when those self same enemies get out of hand, they bitch because we are not there to stomp on them fast enough.
President Obama may not have a plan, and we Americans of a military bent find that worthy of ridicule because most of us have a plan for just about everything. That does not give the Kingdom of Saud or anyone in the Arab world the right to complain.
We have spent lives dealing with our own issues in the Middle East. Step up to the plate and spend some of your own.
I draw the line when Arabs complain about the timeliness of the American response to the terrorists that they helped finance. You don’t get a say. Hell, there are strong rumors that the old Kingdom of Saud helped Obama get his first and second elections by pouring money into the campaign or into friends who would advertise.
It is a bit late to bitch about it now. You bought hope and change. Now learn to like it because there are no refunds. Why don’t you buy the Kurds some weapons instead of waiting for someone to give them some? You have the black gold currency the world loves. The Chinese would send you anything you need. Quit whining.
As for ISIS, why don’t you open up those coffers and pay out some handsome ransom for some individuals who have their own reasons for taking down ISIS? Why don’t you foot a loan to Iraq payable to the U.S. for all the lives and money we spent trying to stabilize the place?
Above all, why don’t you get the Mullahs to condemn ISIS and issue a Fatwa thanking the U.S. for all we have done and another banning anyone from ISIS to ever participate in the Hajj?
Why those two specific things? The day the Kingdom of Saud orders those two things; there is no going back. They would be tied to us by bands stronger than steel.
For example, Kuwait would like to get rid of American intervention and involvement in their tiny nation, but they would not exist without us and they know it. They owe us and that debt will not be paid for quite some time if ever.
There are few things in the Muslim world as strong as oaths sworn before god and a religious ruling from a mufti would certainly be binding.
King Abdullah, why don’t you take some of your vast fortune and put it towards a nice retirement home in Florida? We will get around to ISIS, Insha’Allah.
