The start of the MLB season is going to be here before we know it. Every team is set to report to Spring Training by February 26th at the latest. For some teams, pitchers and catchers have already reported.
As always, it’s time to start previewing the favorites to win the World Series. Online sports betting has released the recent World Series favorites with their respective odds. Let’s take a look at the top teams and their odds.
Chicago White Sox +1000
The White Sox were busy this offseason after their young core proved that they are capable of winning a division. The White Sox swung a trade for Lance Lynn, an underappreciated innings-eater in the league. Then, the team signed dominant closer Liam Hendricks. With Yoan Moncada healthy, he could contend for the MVP this season. Jose Abreu returns after winning the American League MVP award. With Lucas Giolito, Dallas Keuchel, Lynn, Dylan Cease, and Michael Kopech, this could be one of the deepest rotations in baseball.
San Diego Padres +900
The Padres are hoping to be competitive for at least the next 14 years. Then again, why else would they have just signed 22-year old Fernando Tatis Jr. to a 14-year contract. The Padres showed last season they are ready to contend after a long rebuild. With Manny Machado and Tatis Jr. anchoring the lineup, this team could go off any given night. What’s more dangerous is the pitching rotation. Trades for Yu Darvish and Blake Snell give this team a true 1-2 punch at the top. There’s hope that Dinelson Lamet will take a step forward, while Michael Clevinger should return at some point this season from injury.
Atlanta Braves +900
The Braves took care of an important part of their team this offseason by resigning slugger Marcell Ozuna. Ronald Acuna Jr. and Dansby Swanson are superstars. Signing Charlie Morton to head the rotation with Mike Soroka and Max Fried was a must. The Braves have all nice pieces but just need to put everything together. The team is the clear favorite in the division but do they have enough to get past the Dodgers?
New York Yankees +600
Signing Corey Kluber might be one of the most underrated acquisitions for the Yankees. The former Cy Young Award winner hasn’t looked himself but is said to be healthy to start the season. Last year, the Yankees were hit with injuries and never played a full season with everyone at 100%. With their young prospects and pitching staff, this team is dangerous if healthy.
Los Angeles Dodgers +350
The Dodgers were just given one of the highest pre-win totals we have seen in over 20 years. Their 104.5 wins were boosted once the team signed National League Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer. The team didn’t need to sign Bauer, but with him, Clayton Kershaw, and Walker Buehler leading the rotation, this is the best three-headed monster in baseball. Assuming Kenley Jansen is ready to close out games like his All-Star self, good luck scoring runs against the Dodgers. We didn’t even mention the lineup that features Mookie Betts, Corey Seager, and Cody Bellinger. This team is the all-around World Series favorite.
