But struck by lightning
Sometimes I wonder what my heart has been saying

Often it’s thunder and under

Thoughts are thunder
They rarely strike like lightning
What is beautiful
Is often forgotten

Except expressed in motions

Time can often feel like an ocean
Pain articulated in motion
A tragedy rarely spoken
Moments are thunder
Unspoken thoughts
A dreamer down under

Lightning thoughts
What I wonder
Unspoken thoughts
Damaged is the soul
Beautiful is the soul

Ryan Mimna lives in Philadelphia and works in the finance industry. He served in the U.S. Army from 2011 to 2015 and, after completing the Ranger pipeline, served with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, including multiple tours in Afghanistan.
