Boxing is the most popular combat sport in the world, even with the emergence of the UFC. As a result, there are regular big contests taking place. We’ve looked at the most significant upcoming events so you can plan your viewing schedule.
Gonzalez vs Barrera: July 12th
There’s a clear favorite for this bout. The Sportzino Boxing odds today have Gonzalez as the expected winner, which will disappoint Barrera. He has a height and reach advantage, is younger, and has a better record in his last five fights. However, Gonzalez has one clear advantage, and that’s having performed at a higher level. While Barrera has won titles during his career, it pales in comparison to Gonzalez’s achievements. Gonzalez has won titles across multiple weight classes, including the following:
- WBA Super Flyweight Title
- WBC Super Flyweight Title
- The Ring Flyweight Title
- WBC Flyweight Title
- WBA Light Flyweight Title
- WBA Minimumweight Title
This collection of titles shows that Gonzalez can compete in multiple weight classes. Barrera has not had the same prestige during his career and is coming up against a better overall fighter. Gonzalez also has just four losses from fifty-five fights, while Barrera has five losses from thirty-two fights. Despite being younger, it shows he’s not on the same level as Gonzalez.
It’s sure to be an impressive fight, with both men wanting to grab the win and put themselves in contention for another title bout.
Jaron Ennis vs David Avanesyan: July 12th
Anyone who enjoys boxing will be looking forward to this fight. Jaron Ennis is undefeated in thirty-one fights and is the interim IBF Welterweight Champion. He seems unstoppable at the moment, and during his career, he’s hit 28 KOs, a phenomenal 90% knockout rate.
However, David Avanesyan is a tough competitor. He’s only lost four out of thirty fights and has an impressive 18 KOs. It’s safe to say he’s the underdog in this fight, but with a big win on the line, he’s likely to go all out.
Ennis has the height and reach advantage, so Avanesyan must be evasive to stand a chance. With Ennis’s incredible punching power, any shot will cause significant damage. However, like any fight, Avanesyan has a puncher’s chance and can score an upset if he gets a solid combination together.
Zhanibek Alimkhanuly vs Andrei Mikhailovic: July 12th
There’s a lot on the line for this battle. Both fighters have an undefeated record, and Alimkhanuly is the IBF and WBO Middleweight Champion. While they could still end the fight undefeated if it’s a draw, they won’t have a pure winning record anymore.
It’s tough to call the favorite here, as both men are impressive boxers. Mikhailovic has a height and reach advantage and has more fights under his belt. However, Alimkhanuly is the champion, showing that he’s top-class in his own right. It could go either way, and both men will be desperate to walk away as the title-holder.
Whatever the result, it’s sure to be a great fight, and you can follow along with Sportzino. The in-play predictions there are perfect for keeping up with the action.
