The phenomena of vortexes (pronounced ‘vorticeees’) have captivated me ever since I discovered them during my studies in the stranger things of life. Living with the firm belief that the universe is pure energy, and therefore so is the planet we all inhabit, it’s not too far of a reach to also believe that we are all receivers and transceivers of energy; acting as walking antenna on this living rock. Push and pull of energy is a universal law and vortexes are a great example of this constant activity.
In the case of a vortex, it is our wonderful planet doing the heavy lifting of energy exchange from in and out of its core back into the great beyond. If one was to consider what kind of energy our Mother Earth is sending back out currently, with all the damage we as humans do to it and the endless suffering we cause to each other, one could not help imagine the negative distress signal being sent out might be a cause for worry to outside, extraterrestrial beings. Could it be any wonder why there are so many sightings of Unidentified Flying Phenomenon (UAP) conducting site surveys, zone, area and route reconnaissance to our planet lately?
According to sedona.net, a vortex can be used in energy healing and can range from “a variety of techniques, including visualization, meditation, reiki, sound, and physical touch, to manipulate the energy in the body. The goal of vortex healing is to help a person release negative emotions, thoughts, and patterns of behavior that are causing physical or emotional distress.
Vortex Healing is not a replacement for traditional medical treatment, but it can be used as a complementary therapy. Like all forms of energy healing, the effectiveness of vortex healing may vary from person to person. (Sedona Vortex – What is a Vortex & How Does One Experience Them?)
So, having recently traveled to Arizona for the holiday, I had the opportunity to spend a day with my father in beautiful Sedona. Located about two hours north of Phoenix and 45 minutes south of Flagstaff, Sedona is a quaint little town celebrating its beauty nestled in the surrounding painted sandstone plateaus, buttes, bluffs, and mesas. A beautiful playground, Sedona hosts an environment inviting to the hiker, the biker, the professional and the painter. Its truly a treasure found in the desert.
While researching travel routes and events happening in Sedona, I stumbled across a map showing the vortexes that reside in and around the town. Sedona is a mecca for outdoorsy folks, spiritual energy and enlightenment. So, when I pulled into the Red Rock Visitor Center off Hwy 179, I saw many Class B Mercedes vans and Subarus with bike racks and tie dye bumper stickers, I knew I was in good company!
Our first venture was to Bell Rock, a well-known vortex location with spectacular views of Courthouse Butte and Cathedral Rock. The late November sunny weather and the early morning breeze made short work of a two-mile, easy hike to the backside of the rock. The trail we took had us move right through the vortex located at this site. Having never experienced a vortex, I set my intention and an open mind as I journeyed through the unknown. After about a mile we arrived at a good turnaround point and I took advantage of finding a seat on a rock that perfectly positioned me looking at the backside of the Bell. Appreciating the scenery and company, I will say I did not feel an overwhelming surge of energy pass through my body as I imagined, but I did feel at peace and that everything was exactly as it should be in the present moment. Hiking back was easy and there was more to be found further into Sedona.
Driving over to the other side of the bluffs into Sedona proper, we found easy parking at Airport Loop Trail. Choosing to hike the western ridge, it was a moderate climb to arrive at a spectacular view of the entire valley floor cradling the town of Sedona with an amazing red rock painted formation backdrop. Out of the seven recommended vortexes and hikes, I think we chose the best two trails we could do in a quick day trip. There were plenty of vantage points for an iPhone portrait or pano photo of the scenery, flora, and fauna.
Again, as well as at Bell Rock, I cannot say I felt a sense of overwhelming energy flow in and out of my body, or a sense of being rejuvenated. But I will say that I felt I was right where I supposed to be in that moment, in good company and with that comes a sense of joyous security that the universe was playing out just as it was supposed to.
Before moving over to Airport Mesa, another well-known vortex location, we grabbed some Tex-Mex at Tortas De Fuego Bar & Grill to power up the “on-board energy cells.” Never having to exercise an excuse to grab tacos (but always ready to use one) we found a pretty rad placed tucked in a corner of a strip mall that blessed the patrons to both Britney Spears classics and futbol on the big screen. After a frozen margarita and a trio of authentic chipotle flautas, it was off to get vortexed again!
Of interesting note, at the Airport Loop overlook was a National Park Service sign explaining the formations across the valley as well as something called the “Harmonic Convergence.” This is where the “aha” moment revealed itself. Rather than paraphrase here, I Googled it and here’s the jest;
“Thirty years ago, New Age believers, pagans, meditation practitioners, hippies and the spiritually curious gathered at “energy centers” around the globe to let out a collective “OM.” The two-day event, which began on the 16th, was dubbed the Harmonic Convergence and is believed to be the first multi-national, simultaneous meditation event ever organized reports Margalit Fox at The New York Times. The August 1987 events didn’t occur on some random days. According to astrology, the two days were when most of the planets in the Solar System formed “trines” or roughly 120-degree angles that supposedly promoted harmony. It was believed that this alignment of the planets would trigger a new age of peace and harmony and “a major unification of souls with purpose on this planet.” Also, it was humanity’s only chance, some believed, to prevent the apocalypse; also, aliens.” (Thirty Years Ago, People Tried to Save the World By Meditating | Smart News| Smithsonian Magazine)
Okay, okay, I know, I know; Aliens? But I mean, it is the Southwest. So yeah, it sort of checks out! This event is where the significance of Sedona championing as a vortex mecca comes from. Oddly enough, the day we were there was the full moon of November, so again this captivated me in the sense that the universe was placing me exactly where I needed to be for the ultimate experience.
With about a two-hour drive home ahead, it was time to load up and head out of town. Grabbing a tall coffee for the road at Oak Creek Espresso met flirting with a couple of tattooed, hippie baristas inside and then sitting out front on the patio to get in one last breath of high-plain/mountain air before traveling back through Phoenix. It was while I was sipping on my coffee that an awesome synchronicity happened. I have become very attuned to when synchronicities occur and to never downplay their importance. I don’t believe in coincidences anymore, so when this one hit, I couldn’t help but bust out in laughter at the timing and significance. I had to look up in gratitude and give an acknowledgement to the One watching over me.
Later the next morning another unrelated, but just as powerful, synchronicity occurred dealing with a conversation I had while at the taco bar and grill in Sedona with dad. Wanting to apply the mysticality of the vortex energy from the area, I chalked those two synchronicities up to the intention I set at the beginning of the day of wanting to invite the mystical benefits of universal energy into my human experience. That my friend is the Law of Attraction in action.
So, whether you believe in strange phenomena or just enjoy seeing new places, Sedona offers a destination that will leave visitors breathless, and awe inspired. Just the sheer wonderment of how the rock formations were created over time and erosion captivates the humble imagination.
And as I continue to see on the news, there’s no shortage of global war rumors, predictions, doomsday, apocalyptic messaging or the provocations of aliens saying hello to us Earthlings. So, maybe it’s truly time for the Harmonic Convergence, 2.0!
Road trip anyone?
