The Road Ahead

The road ahead
would be hard
Difficult
No doubt
You walked that rocky path with me
Fearful
and devout

Although I cannot change
Some things
They are the past
My life has come full circle
I see the future
at last

It is full of wonderment
Not heartache
nor of pain
And in the beckoning of the light
With love
I shall remain

Forever true
To your heart
And in me
just the same
The love that rests within us now
Burns on
just like the flame

That showed itself
That very day
When eyes opened
first, we met
A love for one another
Our love… we won’t forget”
