by Aaron Smith
Tonight, tears draw lines
That only some find
When despair gets a hold of your
Last set of minds
My Brother
Alone in the night
No one by his side
Abandoned by many
While still in the fight
My Brother
Confused as such
Abused as much
As a man down on his luck
And unable to give a fuck
Only The Sovereign
Can see what’s in his head
Damn bro, they tried instead
To pump him full of shit worse than
Lead, Drugs. All of them
Only The Sovereign
Feels this pain inside
For a lost little boy
Left behind
On his last leg of
The Ride
I need to breathe
The pain inside
We can’t deny
It’s real, alive
But can we rise
A part has died
The powers lied
And brothers cried
And then we tried
To open wide
A heart denied
The only chance we had to heal
The Sovereign
Only knows what for
Cause what it seems like is
We’re being ignored
They say “It’s war”
Then just move toward
The very end of
What’s the very
End of you.
And me.
Can we survive?
My Brother.
Tonight, My tears
And all my fears
Shed upon
These basement stairs
I promise you
We’ll make it through
We just have to
Try to push until
Tomorrow.
Can you promise me, I’ll see you tomorrow?
I don’t have much bro,
Just this promise:
I’ll be there,
Tomorrow.
See you tomorrow.
