The National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center, established in order “to honor the legacy and valor of the U.S. Army Infantryman,” opened its doors in 2009.
Appropriately enough, it is located in Columbus, Georgia, adjacent to Fort Benning and the Home of the Infantry.
As reported in the Columbus Ledger-Inquirer, the Infantry Museum has been nominated for “best free museum in America.” As of the writing of this article, it was #2 in the voting. How great would it be to have a veteran-themed museum as the #1 free museum in the nation? Head over to the voting site and help the Infantry Museum reach the #1 spot.
