I’m going to forgo my typical writing style for this subject matter. My gloves are off. There will be profanity. Begin Ranger rant…
Women in Ranger school. Women in combat units. Women in Special Operations… it’s like a scene from the Wizard of Oz: lions and tigers and bears, oh my! …except we’re not on the Yellow Brick Road.
Why in the fuck are we still talking about any of this?
I may not own a watch but I sure as hell understand that it’s fourteen years past the turn of the 21st century! People are still getting upset about the possibility of a woman fighting for their country?! Really?
I read a comment regarding females in being allowed to attend Ranger school today, “There is no good reason to weaken our armed forces just to appease a few special interest groups.” Really? That’s the best you could come up with?
First of all, women are not a “special interest group;” women make up a majority of the earth’s population. Maybe that makes them a majority interest group (not sure if that is even a thing). To say that their integration as a whole into anything would weaken that thing is sexist, misogynistic, or stupid. Maybe it’s all of the above.
Look bro, I get it, I saw Little Rascals, when you let girls in the clubhouse they ruin everything. They bring their pink shit over and you’re not allowed to fart or scratch your balls anymore. Here’s the deal with that flick, it was about children. That is what you sound like every time you bring up, “They aren’t as strong as men.” Or, “but their vaginas bleed once a month and that scares me.”
First of all, I can name half a dozen women off the top of my head that are more physically capable of performing strength tasks than 30% of the current members of the 75th Ranger Regiment. Yeah, I just fucking said that! Because it is true. There are women that are woman-capable of going further, faster and fighting harder than you. “So what” though, right? Being a Ranger or a SEAL or Green Beret is about more than just being strong right?
Fucking A it is. It’s about being willing… willing to do a job that very few people have the courage to even understand let alone do. If a woman or a dozen women or a thousand have it in their hearts to go to those places, to shoulder 100% and then some of the task at hand then it’s simple…. Let’s fucking roll!
But they are gonna lower the standards?
Shut up! Seriously, shut the fuck up! On several missions we got more done because we had a woman attached to our platoon. They made it possible to interact with local females in a culture that didn’t allow our docs to touch them. We were able to provide care and in turn gain a foothold on trust. You know what did that for us? A woman! …. That never passed any special school or selection. Imagine if she had? Think about the value of the diversifying a unit.
But they are going to fall out when it gets tough?
Women have birthed every single man on this planet and most of them stuck around long enough to raise your sorry ass. Don’t talk to me about women giving up when things get tough. Sure some women do, but so do some men. Women aren’t quitters, quitters are quitters.
That’s why we have a selection process, to weed out quitters. Like all of you badge protectors that are crying right now. How many of you quit RASP or BUD/S and are talking shit that woman shouldn’t be allowed to go? Be honest! Yeah, you… The one who was too scared to even go in the first place. You think you should be able to have a voice in if another soldier goes? Shut the fuck up… seriously.
But what about the bunk conditions? One women, 30 guys? She could get sexually assaulted?
HOLY SHIT!!! That has nothing to do with her… that has everything to do with an absolutely sorry sack of shit of a man that would do that in the first place. Cut his pathetic dick from his body immediately! I’m not even going to expand on this. It’s not a woman’s fault when she gets raped! EVER!
Bottom line is this, women are not inferior to men. They aren’t. They have a slightly different set of strengths that offset our equal yet different set of strengths. If a women has the patriotism to enlist and serve in the military, the desire and ability to serve in special operations and the capability to enter and stay in that world then there shouldn’t even be a discussion about it. In 70 years, we will look back on this topic and be as ashamed that we had it as we now should be about racial integration in schools in the 1960’s.
Please, please, please come at me with the “physiological differences between men and women” argument or the “you’ve never been there, you don’t know” argument. Please!! I am bored and would love the opportunity to real-talk a few misogynistic bigots on my internet machine. It’s time for all of us to move past the Yellow Brick Road.
Ranger rant concluded.
