Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei recently reminded the world that his nation still has the courage to chant “Death to America.” How sweet. Some countries send aid, others send olive branches—Tehran sends chants, lovingly roasted over a burning U.S. flag.
In his statement, Khamenei framed the slogan not as an old ideological relic, but a brave truth bomb. Which is, frankly, adorable. After all, when your economy’s in freefall and international negotiations are a game of “he loves me, he loves me not,” a little motivational yelling never hurts.
But perhaps we’ve misunderstood them. Maybe “Death to America” isn’t a threat—it’s just… tough encouragement. A spirited “do better” from a concerned neighbor who happens to chant in unison and torch effigies. If you squint and tilt your head, it’s practically a cultural exchange.
Let’s not forget, Iran isn’t shouting at just anyone. They’re shouting at us. That takes a certain kind of international devotion. It’s not hatred—it’s a standing ovation with a bit of kerosene. In a world grown weary of American overreach, Tehran is simply reminding us, loudly and rhythmically, that we’re still the main character.
So thank you, Iran, for your… enthusiasm. We feel very seen. And flammable.
