Jason is a former Marine Corps captain with more than ten years of active service, first as an enlisted Marine and later as a commissioned officer. He completed three combat deployments to Iraq, including the initial 2003 invasion, and fought in the Rumaila Oil Fields, Baghdad, Ramadi, and Al Hit. He holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton, and a master’s degree from the University of Houston–Downtown. Jason is the author of Running Towards Gunfire: Courage and Brotherhood in Ramadi.
