What can you do to make your patients happy?
It turns out that the answer is “quite a lot.” It just depends on having the right systems in place and making them work for them and you.
So, what can you do? How can you make sure that every patient that comes to your clinic is a happy bunny and wants to return in the future?
Prioritize Empathy
The first thing you’ll want to do is to prioritize empathy. You’ll want to make sure that you’re understanding where they’re coming from and really listening to their concerns and taking them on board.
A lot of clinics will just prescribe a treatment and leave it at that. However, what most patients are looking for is a type of emotional support where you’re there for them. If you can give them this, then it doesn’t usually matter that much about the quality of the treatment.
Make Appointments Easy
Next, you’ll want to leverage patient experience software to make appointments as simple as you can. Patients should feel that all they need to do is log onto their computers and click a button to see you.
Of course, thanks to modern software, this sort of thing is much easier than it was in the past. There are plenty of solutions out there, and many of them have quite reasonable prices and subscription fees. All you need to do is enter your credit card details and sign up.
Use Clear Communication
Another tip is to use clear communication. Patients should feel like they can really understand what you’re saying.
Don’t underestimate the importance of this step. If you can explain things without making them complicated or using jargon, you’re often well ahead of the vast majority of clinics that aren’t in the same position.
Personalize Care
You should also look to personalize the care you offer at every step. You want to make sure that you’re doing what’s absolutely best for your patient in particular instead of the population in general (which is an abstract concept that doesn’t exist).
Here’s what to consider:
- The culture at your clinic
- How accessible your services are
- The comfort and cleanliness of the service
- Follow-up calls
If you get all these elements right, you can usually make your service feel far more personal and welcoming than if you were by yourself.
Maintain A Welcoming Environment
Patients can sometimes feel a little apprehensive when they come to the clinic, so maintaining a welcoming environment is also highly beneficial. The better you get at it, the more patients will come and be likely to stay.
You can make your environment more welcoming by adding water stations and clearer signage. You could even greet patients as they arrive to make them feel even more special.
Empower Patients
Finally, you’ll get higher ratings as a clinic if you focus on empowering patients. Things like videos, brochures and links to websites can give them the information they need to take control of their health.
