College is difficult and strenuous. If you feel that it is too much for you, do not worry: you’re not the only one, and NO, it is not too much for you. Getting organized during college and staying on top of all the work done is stressful and takes too much time. So, to help you protect yourself, we’ve come up with some handy tips to keep your mental health in college for college students.
We cannot underestimate sleep. We learn faster, memorize better, and function better during the day when we get enough sleep. Build a Network of Friends
Build a Network of Friends early on in your college life and see how you prosper and how much time you can save. Friends are there to listen to your doubts, to help you overcome difficult times, and be there to cheer for you when you are winning or getting top-of-the-class compliments. Elevate this network so that you and your friends help one another by sharing your study notes, exam advice, and so many other things. You’ll have somebody to fall back on, and you will study less and be more efficient with your time. You need free time to stay healthy and stress-free during college.
Be Physically Active
Physical activity should be high on your list of priorities. Do not trick yourself into thinking that the Freshmen 15 will not hit you: it will. All the sitting in lectures, in the library and the dorm, writing, typing, and reading are sure to leave traces on you. So, while exercising, you’re helping yourself win two battles: keep your mental health as well as your physical health.
Eat a Healthy, Well-Balanced Diet
An average freshman eats a lot of fast food. Make sure you do not fall into this trap. Make sure that your diet includes:
- Enough fibers – it is good for digestion and will keep your immune system in tip-top shape,
- Enough proteins – to help you stay strong, do not forget that those shoulders carry a lot during college years,
- Enough veggies and fruits – full of vitamins and minerals, these are sure to pump up both your immune system and your mood, and
- Enough fats – fats, if taken in moderation, can do wonders for your mental health and study abilities.
- Supplements – this is a good one, but it only works the best when combined with all other points. This includes priobiotics such as activated you products. Take vitamin B complex for energy and proper brain function; you’ll need this the most as a student.

Avoid Drugs and Curb Alcohol

Pay a Visit to your Campus Counselor
