Spending more time together as a family can be as easy as creating a game room everyone can enjoy. From the smallest kids just learning to play to adults who enjoy playing together, the perfect game room includes something everyone will love playing and allows them to play together. Use the following as a starting point to create an amazing game room that everyone can enjoy.
Start With Comfortable Seating
Comfortable seating is a must-have for a game room, so start by looking for a bean bag chair or other seating that is comfortable and easy to rearrange as needed. Bean bags are perfect for game rooms, especially when there are kids playing, as they can be adjusted and moved to make room for everyone. Add other seating as needed to ensure everyone has a spot to sit while they’re playing.
Keep a Free Space for VR Gaming
Those who want to play VR games will want to make sure there’s space for playing where it’s safe. This means leaving space in the room without furniture or other obstacles for moving around while playing the VR game. In smaller rooms, if there isn’t enough floor space, use furniture that’s easy to move to ensure it can be pushed out of the way for playing VR games and moved back when the player is done.
Add a TV and Stand for Old-School Games
Make sure there’s a space for the best retro gaming consoles. Of course, many gamers will want their kids to have some of the same experiences they had, and that includes playing early games like the original Mario Brothers games on an old NES console. A TV with a stand makes it easy to display and play the old consoles, and comfortable seating nearby makes it easy to sit and enjoy the games.
Display Memorabilia or Gaming Figurines
Use shelving on the walls to hold figurines, memorabilia, and more. This is perfect for showcasing the most beloved games and characters and can add a lot of interest to the room. Use shelves for displaying game cases, too, as they can be used as artwork around the room and still be used to store the games when they’re not being played.
Paint a Mural on the Walls
If the walls look a little bare, what about painting a mural on them? A game-themed mural is perfect for a game room, adds interest, and helps the characters come alive. Use a projector to easily sketch the design on the wall, then start painting. While it might not turn out perfect, it’s a great way to add more interest to the room and something the family can do together to design the perfect game room.
Add a Snack or Beverage Station
Don’t forget to add in a snack or beverage station so there’s no need to leave when playing with friends and family. Hungry kids will appreciate being able to snack while they play with the family and a cooler or mini fridge makes it easy to enjoy a beverage while everyone is having fun.
If you’re ready to create the ultimate game room for the family to enjoy, start with the ideas here and expand on them to make a unique room that’s going to be comfortable and fun. Take the time to think about the design, how to include everyone in the games, and more to make sure it’ll be the perfect space to relax and spend time gaming.
