I got to reminiscing the other day and this one incident that happened back in Germany in the early 70’s popped into my mind… I was a newly promoted enlisted VIP Flight Section Sgt.
We heard a rumor that there was a new Lt. processing in as Platoon Leader; he was a VMI graduate… No one wants to have VMI guy as Platoon Leader.
All that Thomas Jackson and the Confederacy heritage stuff simply made him too weird to be our platoon leader. Besides he didn’t just put up with the academy abuse like your run of the mill Ring Knocker. He paid tuition for it! – You gotta wonder about someone like that.
It was the early days of VOLAR, we all got 400% raises and rights overnight… So we took a vote and the new LT lost. I marched my happy ass right down to Rose Barracks and on into 8th ID Headquarters where I informed Command Sergeant Major Wildman, that we were seceding from Division HQ.
Yer not buying that one are you…?
Well… maybe it didn’t happen exactly like that, but only because I’ve never been suicidal.
Don’t get me wrong, I took dumbassery to new heights in my 20’s but I was never confused enough to try that one. I was active duty back when the 4-wall Counseling Session was still the preferred tool for Professional Development and minor attitude corrections.
I assure you my head would still be spinning if I ever tried to pull a stunt like that with Wildman.
I was thinking about it because an old friend recently suggested
that I get involved with the California secession initiative.
She knows my opinion of the President Elect’s National Socialist, White Supremacist political ideology, so I guess she figured I would jump on the Secession Bandwagon with the sheeple. – I thought she knew me better, and where the Constitution is on my list of priorities.
I’ve heard internal rumblings that several of the big money families, including one I have close ties with, and several Silicon Valley corporations have already funded a committee to investigate the plausibility of California leaving the Union on a ballot initiative in 2009.
She thought I could use my talents to help work up the P&As for the initial petition and maybe write some of the PR stuff to show why California has no need for the Republic – I declined.
When you hear Texas, Arizona, or some other Federally dependent state moo about seceding no one takes them serious because they don’t have the economy or resources, but California isn’t Texas or Arizona.
California can become 100% self-sustaining overnight.
They lead the U.S. and the majority of the world in the fields of Agriculture, Pornography, Petroleum production, Aviation, Software development, Alternative Energy, Defense R & D, Explosives, Medical research, Healthcare, Aerospace, Lumber harvesting, Marijuana and Dairy.
California has no need to import Oil, they have enormous oil fields, established refinery operations, and most importantly… California dominates the Wine industry.
California is the sixth largest and some say the strongest economy on the planet.
The 2015 US Economy was just under $18 trillion, California provided just under $2.5 trillion of the total US economy – That’s 14% of the US economy.
California also provides in excess of $290 Trillion in federal tax revenue – almost 15% of the federal tax revenue.
My annual income would rise by almost 35% if we didn’t pay federal income tax. California could triple the State income tax and Californians would still get a raise.
California is one of the top year-round tourist destinations in the world, the Pacific, the Sierras, Lake Tahoe, Death Valley, Yosemite, San Francisco, the Gold Rush, Black Bart and countless other attractions bring millions into the economy.
California is 47th on the list of states in federal subsidy consumption and pays for much of the Bible belt to exist – and that’s OK as far as I’m concerned. I still believe in the National Motto of the United States, not the religious affirmation that came out of McCarthy’s Fascist movement.
California has 5 major Sea Ports of entry and 7 major Air Ports of Entry on the Pacific; major north/south transit highways, Rail Roads and Large, deep draft navigable waterways are already in use. Major east running export routs intersect at every port of entry .
There are 5 strategically imperative military facilities, at least 4 major defense production facilities and vast training areas within the borders of the Bear Republic.
If you include Reserve Federal Military Units in the count, California has an approximately 100,000 member Army/Air/Navy force at the Governor’s beckoning. (Army Reserve , National Guard , Air Guard, USNR, USMCR and CSMR.) California also has the means to raise a National Army.
Even during the Great Depression, it was California where people from Oklahoma and Texas Fled. Things were better in California because it is one of the few self-sustaining regions of the world.
California can feed, shelter, heat, power, fuel and provide anything its citizens need without importing anything.
It doesn’t require a lot of ciphering skill to conclude that as far as symbiotic relationships go… California is getting screwed by the numbers. – California is better off if it secedes.
SO WHY NOT?
Can anyone give me a legitimate reason for California to continue to contribute to a Federal Government with no return on investment? Especially after the 2016 election results.
It’s our Constitutional right to secede … Why Not?
